The Out Writer ("the Extension," "we," "us") is a Chrome extension provided by Prime Concrete Solutions Corporation that helps people write letters and essays and break down tasks through guided questions, with voice input and read-aloud support. This policy explains what data the Extension handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions: privacy@theoutwriter.com.
The Extension saves the following in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device:
This data stays on your device. It is not uploaded to us for storage. You can export it yourself with Download backup (a file saved to your device) and bring it back with Restore from file. Removing the Extension or clearing your browser's data deletes it.
When you ask the Extension to generate something (a guiding question, an assembled letter or essay, a task breakdown, or a learning-profile update), the relevant text you have entered — and, if you use the image feature, an image you provide — is sent over HTTPS to our backend (hosted on Railway) and relayed to Anthropic (the provider of the AI model) to produce the response.
Images. If you give the Trellis a photo or screenshot (for example, of a form or task you want it to read), the image is resized on your device and sent over HTTPS to our backend and relayed to Anthropic so the task can be read from it. An image can contain whatever is visible in it, so please send only images you are comfortable processing this way, and avoid including sensitive information that does not need to be read.
Voice input uses your browser's built-in speech recognition (the Web Speech API). When you dictate, your browser may send audio to its speech provider to transcribe it; this is handled by your browser, not by our backend. Read-aloud uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech. We do not record or store audio.
We use data only to provide the Extension's features: generating guiding questions, assembling drafts, breaking down tasks, reading tasks from images you provide, reading text aloud, transcribing your voice, saving and restoring your work, and personalizing guidance through your learning record. We do not use it for advertising, ad profiling, or any purpose unrelated to these features.
We share content only with the service providers needed to deliver these features:
We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Data sent for processing is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections. Local data is stored by your browser on your device.
The Out Writer is an assistive and educational tool that may be used by students. It does not require an account and does not knowingly collect personal contact information from children. If the Extension is used by a child (for example, at school or at home), it should be used under the direction and supervision of a parent, guardian, teacher, or school, who is responsible for any consent that may be required. If you believe a child has provided information you would like removed, contact us at privacy@theoutwriter.com. Schools or districts deploying the Extension for students should review their obligations under laws such as COPPA and FERPA.

Our use of information received from the Extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use the data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above. We do not transfer or sell it for advertising, and we do not allow humans to read your content except as needed to operate the service, for security, where required by law, or with your consent.
We may update this policy as the Extension changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected on this page.
